Community Christmas Tree Harvest
During the month of December, every household is permitted to harvest one Christmas tree located within the CBJ Tree Harvest Map at no cost. On Saturday, December 10 from 10am-1pm, UAF Cooperative Extension, Master Gardeners, and 4-H groups will partner with the City and Borough of Juneau to host a Community Christmas Tree Harvest.
There are two locations to choose from: the Juneau location will be right before Mile Marker 38 on Glacier Highway, and the Douglas location will be near Mile Marker 12 on Douglas Highway. There will be signs posted at each location.
The event is aimed at helping community members get outside and harvest their very own Christmas tree while learning about the different tree species in the Tongass National Forest. If requested, 4-H Youth and Master Gardener volunteers will use handsaws from the CBJ Parks and Rec Department to help harvest each family’s Christmas tree. Volunteers can also help fasten trees to vehicles. Please visit http://www.juneau.org/lands/TreeCuttingonCityProperty.php to read the CBJ’s Tree Policy and see the CBJ Tree Harvest Map. Free event.
